Harold Hill: Straight Road
It does exactly what it says on the tin..., running dead straight for about 1.2 miles NNW from Gallows Corner. However it was not always called Straight Road. Old Victorian large scale Ordnance Survey maps show the thoroughfare as Gallows Lane.

Harold Hill: McDonald's on Straight Road
Trawling the internet in an effort to find the name of the pub that occupied the site before McDonald's revealed that a petition against the scheme to close the pub and open a McDonald's had gained over a 1,000 signatures when it was delivered to the Mayor of Havering in 1997. All to no avail it would appear. The pub's name was the Bow and Arrow by the way (Get it? Harold Hill?). This is the Briar Road entrance to the site.

Harold Hill: Briar Road Estate
On the face of it this appears to be a fairly modern housing block, but it is all boarded up and deserted. Anyone know why? A board on the end wall states "1 - 7 Briar Road".

It does exactly what it says on the tin..., running dead straight for about 1.2 miles NNW from Gallows Corner. However it was not always called Straight Road. Old Victorian large scale Ordnance Survey maps show the thoroughfare as Gallows Lane. Here the ubiquitous Gatso tries to make sure that the 30mph speed limit is observed.
