Trawling the internet in an effort to find the name of the pub that occupied the site before McDonald's revealed that a petition against the scheme to close the pub and open a McDonald's had gained over a 1,000 signatures when it was delivered to the Mayor of Havering in 1997. All to no avail it would appear. The pub's name was the Bow and Arrow by the way (Get it? Harold Hill?). This is the Briar Road entrance to the site.
