Ford Place
This is Ford Place it is the only non-ecclesiastical grade one listed building in Thurrock. It has been derelict since a disastrous fire in the 1980’s. This conflagration was supposedly caused by children ghost hunting in the empty building. Unfortunately the internal wooden panelling that was one of the main reasons for the listing was destroyed.

Stifford Road bus stop
Actually on South Road, but named after a side road as is the usual practice. Routes stopping are 11, 370 and X81. The 370 is a long-standing route, originally with green London Country buses running from Tilbury Ferry to Romford. It is now cut back to start at Lakeside.

Sadly I was not able to do the real action shots of this event, due to Covid-19 I was in the middle of a ZOOM pub quiz while the worst of the devastation was happening (for the record I was on the winning team... first time ever!!)

Q: What is the difference between a flood caused by a cloudburst and one caused by Essex & Suffolk Water?
A: With a cloudburst sometimes you can prepare for it thanks to a weather forecast!
I have to admit the crisis team did seem to arrive fairly quickly. However I am lucky my house is far enough away to be dry.
