Southdowns Park
A view of buildings that have been converted and those awaiting conversion. To the immediate left is Image, to the right is Image whilst beyond are parts of Lockhart Court, Park West and Arundel Mews which once formed part of the female section of the former hospital.

Southdowns Park, Haywards Heath
The building was part of the large complex of St Francis Hospital which was a hospital for those with various kinds of mental health illnesses. It was open from 1859-1995. Sadly, local children in the Brighton area at least, were sometimes threatened with being sent here if they did something stupid. Some things at least have changed for the better...

The Sussex County Lunatic Asylum
This was the main entrance to the asylum complex, built in 1859. Now converted into flats and known as Cavendish House.

Southdowns Park
Originally the Sussex County Lunatic Asylum (1859) it changed its name to St Francis when coming within the NHS in 1948. It closed and the listed building has been converted into private housing.

Cavendish House and Park East, Southdowns Park
Cavendish House to the left between the two towers was once the administrative centre of the former asylum and was flanked by the male wards to the east, now Park East, and the female wards to the west, now Park West which is out of shot. Both have now been converted to residential use.
