Sunnywood Drive, HAYWARDS HEATH, RH16 4PE

A residential road linking Ashenground Road to the south and Park Road to the north. Built in the 1930s on the site of what was Great Haywards Wood.

Designed and built by Lubetkin and Tecton, architects of the Gorilla House and Penguin Pool at London Zoo, between 1934-36 for what was a prospective estate that never materialised. There are eight houses in total and are listed as a good example of modernist architecture. Number 72 is to the left out of shot is also part of the group but has had a roof added and is the only one of the eight not listed. A residential road linking Ashenground Road to Wood Ride located on the former site of Great Haywards Wood. It began to be developed in the 1930s but only the houses surrounding the small roundabout at the foot of the slope were completed before the Second World War ceased development. Work recommenced around 1947 with much of the road completed by the 1950s.

A cul de sac off Sunnywood Drive that also has pedestrian access to Victoria Park which is located to the immediate north. Built in the 1980s in the grounds of a large house built between the wars.

Linking the northern end of Sunnywood Drive to the close and then Victoria Park. Part of the park built on the former spoil heap made by the construction of the railway in 1841 can be seen beyond.

Now part of the Ashenground Wood nature reserve which has been formed from the rump of the former woodland to the west of the railway after the rest was uprooted to allow development of Bolnore village. Originally part of a field called Four Acres which ended up being the site of much deposited spoil from the cutting of the adjacent railway and subsequently being left to allow a small wood to grow.

Built in the 1970s on fields formerly belonging to Great Haywards Farm, whose 16th century farmhouse still stands in grounds beyond the trees to the left. This is the southern end of the road which is accessed via Bolnore Road.

A small cul de sac located on the western side of Image built in the 1960s on the former grounds of Little Haywards Farm. The farmhouse still stands on the left and dates back to the early 15th century when it would have faced out onto the open common of Haywards Heath.
