Three Chimneys, Jacksons Lane
Golfers will see this 17th C Grade II listed cottage in transit between the 6th green and 7th tee. Walkers on Jacksons Lane will cross the gravel track from Caversham Heights to Chazey Wood and find the cottage at the intersection. Both should notice the cruck construction evident at this end and refer to English Heritage Building ID: 247395 for more details.

Cottage on the golf course
This thatched cottage would once have been splendidly isolated, although at the junction of four footpaths. These days it is virtually surrounded by the golf course and suburban Reading starts about 300 metres away.

Entering the Borough of Reading on the A4074 from Oxford. A much warmer welcome than that in SU7169 (qv)! The drive from Oxford via Wallingford across the downs is quite delightful.

Deadly pond claims another victim
Golfers at Caversham heath have two chances to lose their ball in this pond. On the 6th hole and the 16th the water lurks in front of a double green. In the background is Three Chimneys cottage.

Caversham Heath Golf Course, the path beside the 3rd tee
The hedge line across the centre of the picture is a track from Jackson's Lane at Three Chimneys to Chazey Wood. Hole 3 is 362 yards par 4 and stroke index 14.
