Most of the church was rebuilt in 1638-9, an unusual time for church building. The red brick tower looks very bulky in relation to its height.

St James' church, interior
Looking east from the nave towards the chancel. The nave dates from a rebuilding of 1638-9, whilst the chancel is 13th century. Despite the small windows there is a lot of light in the church; this photo was taken using only the natural light.

Southbury Lane, Ruscombe
A foreshortened view alongside the church which is in the trees to the left. This is looking into the villagey part of Ruscombe. The main road is to my mind the back way to Maidenhead.
