Down Capitals United Express at Ruscombe Siding near Twyford
View ENE, towards London; ex-Great Western Paddington - Bristol and the West main line. Half an hour after the 15.20 Relief (see Image]), the regular Capitals United Express (15.55 Paddington to Fishguard Harbour) ran that day in two portions: this is the second portion, headed by another BR Britannia Pacific, No. 70023 'Venus' - a splendid sight.

Down stopping train near Ruscombe Siding Box, east of Twyford
View NE, towards London; ex-GWR Paddington - Reading and the West main line. The train is on the Down Slow, heading for Reading behind 'Modified Hall' No. 6960 'Raveningham Hall' (built 3/44, named 6/47, withdrawn 6/64 but preserved, currently (2011) under repair on the West Somerset Railway).
