This pub is on the circuit of the straw bear during The Straw Bear Festival each January.
Update March 2016 - Graham Martin of Whittlesey contacted me to say he re-painted the sign in 1999, keeping to the style of the old sign. In 1963 he was a student of the Sir Harry Smith College which was named after General Sir Harry Smith

Whittlesey Corner
Middle Level as it passes through Whittlesey near Peterborough. Just under the bridge is a very tight bend which is difficult for longer boats to negotiate.
