Privately owned and run Museum and set up by two farming brothers, Fred and Harold Panton. Built up as a memorial to Bomber Command and primarily as a tribute to their eldest brother Christopher Panton, who was shot down and killed on a bombing raid over Nuremberg on 30/31 March 1944. It is now widely seen as a living memorial to the 55,500 men of Bomber Command who lost their lives during WW2. It holds one of the rarest aircraft, the Avro Lancaster NX611 'Just Jane', in its collection. Based on the old wartime airfield of RAF East Kirkby, it retains the original 1940's Control Tower. One of the 'inventions' of engineer Barnes Wallis. As the inventor of the first such bomb this was used in the RAF's Operation Chastise of May 1943 to bounce into German dams and explode underwater, with similar effect to the underground detonation of the earthquake bombs Grand Slam and Tallboy, both of which he also invented. Hence the 'Dam busters' and 617 squadron which flew from Lincolnshire.

This currently houses amongst other memorabilia, the Avro Lancaster NX611 - 'Just Jane'.

The bombs then called Blockbusters were the RAF's 4,000-pound (1,800 kg) — also known as a cookie — 8,000 and 12,000 lb (1,800, 3,600 and 5,400 kg) HC (High Capacity) bombs. These bombs had especially thin casings that allowed them to contain approximately three-quarters of their weight in explosive, with the 4,000 pounder containing over 3,000 lb (1,360 kg) of Amatol. This is a 4,000 pound exhibit at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre.

At the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, East Kirkby. The three ton Queen Mary trailer was designed by Taskers to a 1938 Air Ministry specification for a low loading vehicle for transporting fighter aircraft and a total of 1,859 examples were built. Standard equipment at Maintenance Units and on wartime airfields, the Queen Mary was 40' long and could also carry components of larger twin engined aircraft. An improved five ton trailer, which this is an example, was introduced to RAF service in 1943 with over 1,950 being eventually produced. The Bedford OX tractor had a six cylinder 72 bhp engine.

At the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre. This is thought to be the only one in existence, a relic of WWII.

As seen at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre where amongst other exhibits is 'Just Jane', NX611, an Avro Lancaster bomber capable of delivering such a weapon. The Tallboy or Bomb, Medium Capacity, 12,000 lb, was an earthquake bomb developed by the British aeronautical engineer Barnes Wallis and deployed by the RAF in 1944. It weighed five tons and, carried by the Avro Lancaster, was effective against hardened structures against which earlier, smaller bombs had proven ineffective.
