Privately owned and run Museum and set up by two farming brothers, Fred and Harold Panton. Built up as a memorial to Bomber Command and primarily as a tribute to their eldest brother Christopher Panton, who was shot down and killed on a bombing raid over Nuremberg on 30/31 March 1944. It is now widely seen as a living memorial to the 55,500 men of Bomber Command who lost their lives during WW2. It holds one of the rarest aircraft, the Avro Lancaster NX611 'Just Jane', in its collection. Based on the old wartime airfield of RAF East Kirkby, it retains the original 1940's Control Tower.
