Fishing into the Wind
On a barn roof in Taston. Another of the many different subjects represented on wind vanes. A calm day today, so no idea if this one is accurate.

Spring Pond, Taston
The Taston Brook, a very short tributary of the River Evenlode, starts from a number of springs in this and the neighbouring fields. The water comes up into a sort of sink in the shelter at the top of the pond. It looks very clean, but has loads of tiny shrimpy creatures living in it, so I wouldn't want to drink it.

Building something by the Stream
The map marks a building here which it calls a pumping station. It may have housed a hydraulic ram or something. It's not clear what is being done here just now. The stream is the Taston Brook in the Evenlode catchment. A public footpath goes beside it through this field.

Memorial Fountain
Fountain. 1862 for the Dillon family. Limestone and pink sandstone with some polished granite. Gothic style. The water flows from a steeple-like structure rising from a sandstone base on 4 short granite columns with stiff-leaf capitals bearing pointed arches within gables; the drum of the circular limestone superstructure is pierced by a band of quatrefoils, and carries an ornamented spire. A band of decoration around the front arch includes the words "IN MEMORIAM", and a plate on the rear wall commemorates Henrietta Viscountess Dillon. (historicengland.org.uk)
