Bicester Village Designer Outlet, Bicester
Bicester Village is one of a chain of similar malls in the UK, Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, Germany and China. The brands represented are generally at the luxury 'designer' end of the market http://www.bicestervillage.com/en/brands/brands Customers tend to have both an eye for a bargain and a lot of disposable income.

Bicester Village
Bicester Village is a short walk from Bicester town centre but seems a world apart. Here the crowds come for the upmarket designer outlet stores and most probably never venture anywhere else. The Village is said to be the second most popular UK destination for Chinese tourists after Buckingham Palace.

Porridge and friends, Bicester Village Designer Outlet, Bicester
Porridge the Bear has been watching the world go by here since 30 June 1995 when he was unveiled by Lord Carrington KG, GCMG, CH, MC on that date. Porridge was created by Michael Cooper. The Village is one of a chain of similar malls, mostly in western Europe but also in China http://www.bicestervillage.com/en/home/home It may be that the Shanghai connection attracts many visitors from south-east Asia to Bicester. Their needs are well catered-for with a large money exchange and tax refund facility and with most of the concessions employing Chinese-speaking staff.

Bicester Village
A clean, bright hell on earth full of clothes shops and ...err...more clothes shops.
Or rather, they're not clothes shops are they. They're Designer Outlets.
Yeah. Right.

Christmas at Bicester Village Outlet Shopping Centre (1), Pingle Drive, Bicester
Packed with shops dedicated to expensive designer brands, mainly clothing, the goods are in some cases end of season/end of line, so the prices can sometimes be less pricey than you would expect. Needless to say, you will not find Primark or Poundland here, and at a time when the country is going through severe financial difficulties, it is surprising to see the large crowds of shoppers here clutching their Gucci etc carrier bags. The Christmas decorations were up when this photograph was taken, at dusk, in mid-November.
