Porridge the Bear has been watching the world go by here since 30 June 1995 when he was unveiled by Lord Carrington KG, GCMG, CH, MC on that date. Porridge was created by Michael Cooper. The Village is one of a chain of similar malls, mostly in western Europe but also in China http://www.bicestervillage.com/en/home/home It may be that the Shanghai connection attracts many visitors from south-east Asia to Bicester. Their needs are well catered-for with a large money exchange and tax refund facility and with most of the concessions employing Chinese-speaking staff.
