Typical rural idyll, you'd think: green, thatch, old stocks, total tranquillity; but look harder & you'll see posters for a web site opposing plans for an "eco-town" here.

Stocks at Weston on the Green
Weston is one of the few villages in the area to still have on display their village stocks. The age of the present stocks is unsure – probably 18th century or earlier. They are made from oak with wrought-iron fixings. The stocks have 2 slotted posts with sliding cross pieces for securing hands and feet, and are complete with all ironwork

The thatched house is called Forge Cottage and the road off to the left by the tree is Blacksmiths Close so no prizes for guessing what went on here in days gone by.
