Early C19 remodelling of earlier building, refurbished C20. Coursed rubble limestone, C20 plain tile roof, brick chimney shafts to gable ends. Raised from 2 to 3 storeys early C19. 2 bays. C20 3-light leaded casements, the lower windows transomed. C20 4-light leaded window to ground floor right, with C20 door adjacent to left. This large artificial poppy is one of many which have been placed around the village to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ending of World War I in November 1918.

Circa 1810-1820, possibly a refronting of a C18 building. Limestone, with ashlar front, stone slate roof, coped gables and flanking brick chimneys. Double fronted with blocked side passage. 2 storeys and attic, 3 bays. Plinth, first floor band course. Boxed 3-pane sashes with stone lintels, the ground floor windows C20 in altered openings, with C20 louvred shutters. Ground floor right window retains wider flat stone arch. Central 4-panelled door with radiating semi-circular fanlight, in fine stone doorcase with moulded open pediment hood on moulded pilasters with carved acanthus leaf capitals. One stone step. Doorcase is similar to that of Waterloo House, Broad Street, (q.v.). Traces of blocked passage entry to right. Small partly blocked attic casement in right gable. (Source:Historic England)

The memorial is in the town centre. It reads "To the Glory of God and in memory of Bampton men who died for their country in the Great War 1914-1918". It records the names of these men, plus those who died in the Second World War (1939-1945). A further name is of a local man who died in Afghanistan in 2009. The memorial was unveiled in September 1920 and cleaned in 1982. The sculptor was Alec Miller. At the top, St. George is depicted slaying the dragon.

Recently two of the Royal British Legion's "Silent Soldiers" have been placed to the left and right of the memorial. The Silent Soldiers are near life-size silhouettes of a First World War "Tommy" cut from black dibond, which is both tough and weatherproof. The Legion's campaign was launched in 2017 in support of the Poppy Appeal to remember the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces during World War I. Bampton has a long tradition of Morris Dancing, which is celebrated in this millennium mosaic in the centre of the town.
