Sandford Brook in Dry Sandford Pit NR
Dry Sandford Pit nature reserve contains many different habitats ranging from...err...dry sand to ponds and fen. With rock outcrops and woods as well it's all contained in a surprisingly small area of old quarry.
Sandford Brook flows down the western side providing yet more variation.

Pond, Dry Sandford Pit
As well as rock, sand, woodland, fen and stream, Dry Sandford nature reserve also has some small ponds as yet another habitat.
The vividly reflected sky and cloud on a bright day make the water surface look a bit strange. The pond itself stretches back into an area of reeds and marsh.
