An end-terraced house on Richard Street in central Rochdale, Greater Manchester, and behind it, the former Rochdale Fire Station on Maclure Road which now houses the Greater Manchester Fire Service Museum.

Inside The Fire Service Museum
Amongst the exhibits inside the Fire Service Museum Image is a horse-drawn steam fire engine, "George V" built by Shand, Mason & Co of London for the Skelmersdale Fire Brigade in 1910. It is in full working order and has appeared in several TV production including "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" and "Smokescreen".

Moss Side Fire Station opened 1904
This plaque commemorating the opening of the Moss Side Fire Station has been rescued (in two pieces seemingly). The station was still there in 1972 - see https://www.flickr.com/photos/manchesterarchiveplus/5453399718/ - but has since been demolished. The plaque is on display inside the Fire Service Museum Image in Rochdale.

Greater Manchester Fire Service Museum
The Fire Station was in operation here from 1933 until 2013. Now it is the Greater Manchester Fire Service Museum http://gmfsmuseum.org.uk/visiting-museum Standing outside is PDK 717, a Dennis Fire Engine with a 125ft Metz turntable ladder, one of the tallest post-war British turntable ladders. It was delivered new to Rochdale County Borough Fire Brigade in 1957 and operated in the area until withdrawn from operational service in 1976.

1957 Dennis-Metz Fire Engine
One of the displays at the Greater Manchester Fire Service Museum http://www.manchesterfire.gov.uk/about_us/fire_museum.aspx in the yard behind Image PDK 717 is a Dennis Fire Engine with a 125ft Metz turntable ladder, one of the tallest post-war British turntable ladders. It was delivered new to Rochdale County Borough Fire Brigade in 1957 and operated in the area until withdrawn from operational service in 1976. The chassis is a Dennis F21, powered by a Rolls Royce B80 8-cylinder petrol engine. The 125ft all-steel five-section ladder was constructed by Carl Metz of Germany and can be used as an external rescue staircase, as a water tower or as a crane. A centrifugal fire pump capable of delivering 500 gallons (2270 litre) per minute is also fitted to the vehicle. The workshop/museum can be seen behind the fire engine.
