Halfords on The Hyde
The Hyde is the name of the main road, and as the post office depot is next door also the name of the whole NW9 postcode, although the Barnet borough part is always called part of (West) Hendon. For those interested NW4 used to include Golders Green until there were too many people in the postcode and the southern part became NW11.

The name of the road is the same as the area. Letters still go to The Hyde which is programmed into systems for most of NW9 besides West Hendon.

The Hyde sorting office
All London postcodes beyond 1 are in alphabetical order of where their sorting office name is (except NW11 and SE28 which were divided from larger codes, and a new docklands E code). NW9 is The Hyde, which is in the very centre of the postcode so quite correct. It is divided between the boroughs of Brent and Barnet, before 1965 they were Wembley and Hendon.

Old Milepost by the A5, Edgware Road, Hendon
Cast iron post by the A5, in parish of HENDON (BARNET District), Edgware Road NW9, 25m North of junction with Goldsmith Avenue, in pavement, against purpose built wall, by Sainsbury's car park, on East side of road. Barrett Middlesex iron casting, erected by the Kilburn Bridge to Sparrow's Herne turnpike trust in the 19th century.
