Clitterhouse Fields
Late evening sunshine and the leaves on the Horse Chestnut turning brown give a real autumnal feel. These playing fields are the remains of Clitterhouse Farm.
The fence in the middle distance markes the end of Purbeck Drive. On the Horizon, the spire of St.Jude-on-the-Hill can be seen.

Clitterhouse Farm
These are some of the remaining farm buildings. In its later days this was a dairy farm and I would guess that the building on the left was a milking shed. There is a courtyard area behind these buildings.

Purbeck Drive
This road serves as a link road between Pennine Drive at its central point and the concentic side roads that make up the estate. This view is taken from the junction with Cleveland Gardens. The next junction is with Cotswold Gardens. Beyond the fence are Clitterhouse Fields, playing fields on what used to be Clitterhouse Farm. The tower block in the distance is one of three on the Whitefield Estate.

Clitterhouse Farm House
There are records of a farm on this site in 1321, though this farm house clearly doesn't date back that far. Clitter apparently means Clay and may be a reference to the type of soil in the area. A pocket history of the farm is available at http://www.barnet.gov.uk/info/940042/hendon_and_golders_green/733/hendon_and_golders_green/11

From Wikipedia: -
On Wednesday 6 August 2008, the Board of the Hendon Football Club Supporters Trust (the Trust) held a special general meeting (SGM) at Hendon Football Club's Claremont Road ground. Trust members were asked to approve a proposal that the Trust should reach an agreement in principle with Hendon Football Club's current owners, the Arbiter Group, to take ownership of the Club by 31st October 2008. All Trust members in attendance voted to approve the proposal and a letter setting out the agreement in principle has now been signed by both parties.
In addition, Trust members were advised that steps have now been taken to secure the permission of the relevant football authorities for the Club to enter into a groundsharing agreement with Wembley F.C. All parties are working towards securing agreement in time for the Club to play at Wembley F.C. Vale Farm ground. This agreement will be effected as soon as possible.
Simon Lawrence, Chairman of the Trust, said:
"While it is desperately disappointing to have to leave Claremont Road, we have been aware for some time that our time there will come to a close at some point and we have been in discussions with Wembley Football Club for quite a while."
As of July 2009, Hendon FC confirmed that they have secured a long-term groundsharing agreement with Wembley F.C. for the shared use of their Vale Farm ground.

Cleveland Gardens
Looking northeast from the junction with Purbeck Drive. Mainly 1930's semidetached housing though there look to have been a few later additions, possibly filling in bomb damage from WWII.
