The old Swan & Edgar, Linhope Street
Reputedly London's smallest pub, the Swan & Edgar (named after the West End department store that closed in 1982) itself closed in 2013. The walls were famously lined with books as decoration and the toilet floors were comprised of Scrabble tiles.

Northeast on Ivor Place from Boston Place
In view: a fine mature Cordyline australis (so-called Cabbage Palm). Sub-tropical plants thrive in London's microclimate. The road junction, right, is with Balcombe Street, a street of larger houses for the well-off. The surrounding streets such as Boston Place and Ivor Place, with two-storey houses, were for servants, horses and tradespeople.
