In view: a fine mature Cordyline australis (so-called Cabbage Palm). Sub-tropical plants thrive in London's microclimate. The road junction, right, is with Balcombe Street, a street of larger houses for the well-off. The surrounding streets such as Boston Place and Ivor Place, with two-storey houses, were for servants, horses and tradespeople.
