Woolworth's Building and former Philological College, Marylebone Road
The college buildings date from 1856-57, and were designed by W.G. & E. Habershon. Gothic with diapered brick aplenty. The hexagonal section with a pretty lantern was the library. Grade II listed.
The stone giant, built about a hundred years later, is one of Richard Seifert & Partners's more prosaic designs.

The old St Marylebone Grammar School on Marylebone Road
The school was built in 1792 as the Philological School and closed in 1981. The right hand part was listed and remains as Abercorn School, with the left part demolished for the current office block.
