Marylebone: Dorset House, NW1
Dorset House was built between 1934 and 1935 on a single street block with frontages to Marylebone Road, Glentworth Street, Melcombe Street and Gloucester Place. This is the view from Dorset Square looking at the north-west corner with Melcombe Street on the left and Gloucester Place to the right. With its 185 flats above an underground parking garage, a ground floor fuel filling station, restaurant and 16 shops, Dorset House is considered to be one of the most impressive Moderne style complexes of flats built in central London, and as such warrants Grade II Listed Building status.

Former Abbey National HQ, Baker Street
This extraordinary sight currently greets anyone venturing along the northern stretch of Baker Street beyond Marylebone Road. This was part of Abbey National's old headquarters building which is being redeveloped into luxury flats. Westminster Council, however, insisted that the clock tower feature is retained, so the builders have just removed the building from underneath - one just hopes they know what they are doing! The clock is stopped at 12 o'clock.

Melcombe Street is always busy with pedestrians. It's between Marylebone and Baker Street stations; there's a Tesco Express and other shops, big apartment blocks all round.
