Edgware Road (District & Circle line) Underground station, London
Opened in 1863 by the Metropolitan Railway on the line from Farringdon Street to Paddington Bishop's Road, which was later extended westwards to Hammersmith. A branch line was opened in 1868 southwards from here towards Gloucester Road, which is now part of the Circle, and District lines. Also the Hammersmith & City line uses the original 1863 route.
View north at the street-level building, which dates from 1927. The platforms below are in the open air, not tunnel.

On July 7th 2005 terrorist suicide bombers set off four coordinated explosions on the London transport network. This plaque at Edgware Road (District Line) commemorates the six people who lost their lives at this location.

Edgware Road Underground Railway station
The entrance building for Edgware Road station is on the corner of Chapel Street and Cabbell Street. The building was constructed for the Metropolitan Railway and now serves the District, Circle and Hammersmith & City Lines.
