Path in Childs Hill Park
Childs Hill was probably named after Richard le Child, a local landowner in the 14th century. In the late 19th century, there was rapid housing development, and in 1891 the land for Childs Hill Park was gifted by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners to the Hendon Local Board. The park was opened soon after. A full history is given at http://www.londongardensonline.org.uk/gardens-online-record.asp?ID=BAR013 In this photograph, the white building on the far side is a cafe.
