Machine Meadow, Pontnewynydd
The name of this street seems at first glance to be a strange juxtaposition. Yet the two words machine and meadow describe what happened to much of the previously rural South Wales valleys during the Industrial Revolution. And now, in the early 21st century, with much of the heavy industry gone, many of the valleys are returning to an appearance similar to their pre-industrial state.
