Towards a barrier in the SE part of Mon Bank, Newport
In July 2014, the grey gates in the background are as far as the general public can go in this SE part of Mon Bank, a Redrow housing development of former railway land. Eventually there will be a through road to the Cardiff Road side of Mon Bank.

Water-filled depression at the edge of Mon Bank, Newport
Mon Bank is a Redrow housing development on former railway land between Cardiff Road and Docks Way. Some recently-built houses are in the background. Viewed from the Mon Bank access road, this depression is near a drainage channel named Twenty Acres Reen.

The south eastern side of a large housing development on an area of former railway sidings that was previously known as Monmouthshire Bank. Two culverts are inlets to the pond with one culvert as an outlet.

By the attenuation pond http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5718575 at the south eastern side of a large housing development. The Royal Gwent Hospital is prominent in the distance. On the highest point of the horizon is the tower of Newport Cathedral while the supporting structure of Newport footbridge is to the right of centre. The open land in the middle distance was cleared about 10 years ago http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1044187 and is now earmarked for housing.

Access road into the SE end of Mon Bank, Newport
Viewed from Docks Way in July 2014. Mon Bank is a Redrow housing development on former railway land, extending from here to Cardiff Road, about 800 metres away. At the date of this view, there were some newly built houses on this side, more on the Cardiff Road side. As yet, there is no through road between the two ends. The Redrow board on the right gives details of the more than £1.5 million that Redrow are committing to the local community to ensure the sustainability of this development. The figures include more than £1 million on local primary and secondary schools and £210,000 on public transport.

These houses are part of a large development on an area of former railway sidings that was previously known as Monmouthshire Bank. This is at the junction of Monmouth Castle Drive and Windsor Castle Road. Both names of steam locomotives.
