Emlyn Street, Newport
Emlyn Street was once a quiet back street. Following the closure of part of Kingsway, it has become a busy part of the central city traffic system. It is now a one-way street with traffic flowing from Kingsway in the middle of this view, to Usk Way.

Blue plaque, Newport Centre
Newport Civic Society's blue plaque is on the Kingsway side http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5453195 of the Newport Centre.
It records that the Centre is built on the site of the former Emlyn Engineering Works, a major iron foundry which opened in 1857.

Sovereign House, Kingsway, Newport
Multi-storey office block at 1 Kingsway. The building was completed in 1967.
Formerly in use as a job centre, at the date of this photo (June 2010) there were notices affixed to the glass front doors stating that the office had closed, and redirecting would-be visitors elsewhere.
The building is 35 metres (about 115 feet) high.
