Boulders in Langditch Lane, Newport
The road behind the camera is blocked http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3425862 and there are boulders in the road ahead. Langditch Lane formerly led to a sports club, now demolished. A view http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1580568 in 2009 was taken before the boulders were in place.

Stepped boulders and a fence blocking Langditch Lane, Newport
I don't know the reason for the steps cut into the boulders. There is a gap in the fence, just out of shot on the right, for walkers to pass through.

Matalan, Newport
Matalan Clearance Store, Seven Stiles Avenue,Newport Retail Park. A comment by a Matalan customer appears to summarise their business well - "If you are not after the latest fashion, but a good bargain, then this is the place to go"

Matalan at owners risk
One of about a dozen such signs in the carpark of Matalan Newport. Is it a legal requirement to display an 'at owner's risk' message, or are they playing it safe?

Path to a disused football stand, Langditch Lane, Newport
The metal gate posts remain, but the gate has gone. The stand and football pitch were formerly used by Llanwern AFC, who now play their home games at Newport Stadium. The club was founded as Spencer Works in 1963. This pitch is close to what was at that time the western edge of Spencer Steelworks.

2-metre high frame, Seven Stiles Avenue, Newport
A 2-metre (6 feet 6 inches) high yellow frame has recently been installed near the northern end of Seven Stiles Avenue. While it prevents lorries passing, it is no barrier to cars in an area now plagued by illegal dumping of rubbish. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1991169

This is the second batch of dumped tyres along Langditch Lane http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1580563 . These are alongside the former home venue of Llanwern AFC, who now play their home games at Newport Stadium.

Langditch Lane, Newport
This is now a very quiet area, but the street lamps are evidence of a busier era. The lane runs alongside the football pitch formerly used by Llanwern AFC.

Dumping ground, Seven Stiles Avenue, Newport
It once led to a football ground and social club, but since their closure, the far end of Seven Stiles Avenue has become an illegal dumping ground for rubbish. During my walk in the area, I met a council employee who told me that he removes a vanload of rubbish from the area several times a week. He would like to see this section of road blocked off. I noticed that since my previous visit a few months earlier, a 2 metre (6 feet 6 inches) yellow frame http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1991172 had been installed further down the road, which would prevent the passage of lorries, but not cars. And anyway, most of the junk is on the camera side of the frame.
