This is the stone house, built as a single house in the 18th century but later subdivided. Formerly the Blue Dog public house. Listed Grade II.

The Blue Pig
16th century inn appropriately on the corner of Vine Street and Swinegate. One of the many pubs with 'blue' in the name originating from the early 19th century political rivalry between the Manners family, the Duke of Rutland from Belvoir Castle and The Brownlow family from Belton House. The Manners family were Whigs and their colour was blue - local pubs declared their political allegiance in their name and were frequented by their supporters.

High Street, Grantham, Lincs.
Isaac Newton attended the Free Grammar School in Grantham between 1655-60 whilst aged 13-18 years of age. During this time he boarded with a Mr William and Mrs Catherine Clarke, a married couple and their 7 children, who were friends of his mother and stepfather. Mr Clarke kept an apothecary shop that previously existed on this site. Note the wall plaque.
