Isaac Newton attended the Free Grammar School in Grantham between 1655-60 whilst aged 13-18 years of age. During this time he boarded with a Mr William and Mrs Catherine Clarke, a married couple and their 7 children, who were friends of his mother and stepfather. Mr Clarke kept an apothecary shop that previously existed on this site. Note the wall plaque.
