Across the Trent
In the foreground are the rowing clubs' landing stages. The left bank is lined with warehouses, including Trent Carriers', reminders of the once very busy barge traffic on the Trent. The yellow excavator on the left is being used in the restoration of Meadow Lane Lock, part of a regeneration scheme.

A close look shows city-centre landmarks such as the tower of St Mary's Church in the Lace Market (in the centre) and the Council House dome (to the right of the distant crane). The picture was taken on a bright September morning.

Notts County Official Club Store
Notts County has long been regarded as the poor relation of Nottingham Forest, whose City Ground is just across the river, but it has always had a loyal following in the city. Today the club plays in the National League but it is the oldest professional association football club in the world; its formation predated the Football Association. Meadow Lane has been its home since 1910 and there is the inevitable club shop selling replica kit and souvenirs.
