The Meadows, Nottingham
The Meadows area was extensively redeveloped in the 70s, with large swathes of old housing being demolished. Some of the older housing was, however, retained, and this street scene shows the old meeting the new, with the older houses on the right-hand side of the road, and the newer on the left.

Renewing Arkwright Walk
Victorian Arkwright Street and many of the streets off it were demolished in the Meadows redevelopment of the 1970s. Now houses built then are being replaced along Arkwright Walk, which was once one of the main routes out of the city to the south and was replaced as a bus route by Meadows Way. The skylit roof of the Portland Centre shows above the stacked roof trusses.
