Entrance to former Reform Club, Victoria Street
Now reduced to the status of a casino. See http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6109977 for location.
The story goes that the location of the tramway overhead support pole right outside the door was due to the fact that unlike the majority of premises on Victoria Street, the club would not agree to having the wires attached to their building, and the pole was deliberately sited in an awkward position!

16-18 Victoria Street, Nottingham
The south side of Victoria Street has grand Victorian commercial buildings. This was built in 1869-70 for the Imperial Fire and Life Insurance Co., and designed by Robert Evans. In 1912-13, W.B. Starr & Hall added the porch and dormers for the Nottingham Liberal Club. Grade II listed.
Now the Victoria Club, a casino.

The south side of Victoria Street has grand Victorian commercial buildings. This was built as a club in 1872 by Evans & Jolley. Lavish treatment of the first floor windows and lavish entrances with granite columns and pediments. Grade II listed.
