Houses on Lead Road, Greenside
This is the western side of the village. The stone houses here are probably Edwardian in date, from the early 20th century.

Row of cottages
Cottages at Sealburn North Farm at the west end of Greenside village. These were probably farm workers cottages, built in the late 19th century. Its also possible that they were originally farm buildings and have been converted to residential use.

Sealburn Cottage, Greenside
This is part of Sealburn North Farm on the southern edge of Greenside village. There is a date plaque with 1891 between the upstairs windows. Most unusual for a farm building in my experience, with usually have no indication of build dates.

Unusual double house on Rockwood Hill
This back to back house on Rockwood Hill Road in Greenside is probably Victorian in date. It may have been a farmhouse originally. Possibly, one house is older than the other which was added later as an extension. I have seen a few other examples in the area.

Old stone house on Rockwood Hill
This is on the west side of Greenside village. I think this could have been a farmhouse. It is shown on old O S maps dating back to the mid 19th century, from a time before the village was greatly expanded in the early 20th century. This was to house the miners working in the new large collieries.

An aptly named house
This is High House, on Rockwood Hill Road, Greenside village. It is indeed a high house, near the top of the steep hill on the western outskirts of the village. This part of the village is mostly early 20th century terraces, or more recent houses, but this one looks older. There were a few houses, presumably farms, along this road in the 19th century, and this looks as if it is one of those.

Roadside gates on Lead Road
At a lay-by just south of Greenside village. This was the site of an old farm called Sealburns, which is shown on old maps up to the 1947 O S one, but is now gone.
