Post Box, The Broadway, Tynemouth
This post box, which stands at the junction with Kennersdene, dates from the reign of King George V (1910-1936). The Royal Mail is a key partner in the Government's Coronavirus testing programme and collect completed testing kits from over 35,000 specially selected post boxes of which this is one (see stickers attached to the box). Looking across a very large green to a row of extremely substantial terraced housing - many of which have now been converted to flats. They also occupy a favourable position, especially those to the right which overlook the sea.

38 Percy Park, Tynemouth
This property, along with the remainder of this fine terrace, was built in about the 1870s on land laid out by the Duke of Northumberland. Records indicate that the early residents of these three-storey houses included, amongst others, ship owners and lawyers. This particular property is probably the best example in the terrace with a good retention of the original features. The triangular area between Percy Park, Seafield View and Percy Park Road – known as the Seafield – provides an open space for recreation and an uncluttered view out to sea. In the past, the space was a venue for exhibitions and entertainment, and occasional cattle grazing. NEW
Norah Balls blue plaque, Tynemouth
Outside the former home on King Edward Road, of the high-profile activist who fought alongside Emmeline Pankhurst to secure the vote for women. She went on to become a magistrate - despite once appearing in the dock herself - a councillor, and helped set up the Girl Guides in Northumberland. The plaque was unveiled on International Women's Day in 2022.
