This property, along with the remainder of this fine terrace, was built in about the 1870s on land laid out by the Duke of Northumberland. Records indicate that the early residents of these three-storey houses included, amongst others, ship owners and lawyers. This particular property is probably the best example in the terrace with a good retention of the original features. The triangular area between Percy Park, Seafield View and Percy Park Road – known as the Seafield – provides an open space for recreation and an uncluttered view out to sea. In the past, the space was a venue for exhibitions and entertainment, and occasional cattle grazing.
