Grieve's Stairs, Little Bedford Street, North Shields
First shown on the Ordnance Survey Six-Inch Map published in 1898 these steep stairs, which are seen here from Little Bedford Street, connected Lower Bedford Street with what was then known as East Ropery Banks. The stairs were named after the handsome Grieve's Building which abuts the stairs on the left hand side facing upwards. The stairs from below can be seen at https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7724322.

Flush Bracket Benchmark, Lower Rudyerd Street
Detail of the flush bracket benchmark on the south face, south angle of a works building at the junction of Lower Rudyerd Street and Yeoman Street. The flush bracket, benchmark number 10889, marks a height of 21.8124m above sea level (Ordnance Datum Newlyn), last levelled in 1960 and verified in 1988 (location photograph Image).

Building rear of 131 Bedford Street, North Shields
This old industrial building which backs onto Clive Street is attached to the rear of 131 Bedford Street https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/809395 and is accessed from Little Bedford Street. Part of the building is currently occupied by William Oliver & Rodman Russell Limited who "offer experience, expertise and an unbeatable level of service working with all types of metal (steel, wrought iron, cast iron, aluminium and more)". Little is known of the building's history although it was constructed in 1896, two years after the adjoining 131 Bedford Street property.

Former Town Mission, Yeoman Dtreet, North Shields
The writer Robert Westall, who grew up in North Shields, described the area around Yeoman Street as a disreputable area in his youth. Now mainly housing many of which enjoy enviable views over the River Tyne.
