Edmonton sign
Church Street at junction Ridge Avenue (to left) and Village Road (to right). The discolouration here is not wear but simply dirt and can easily be wiped off. The sign shows a rare deviation from Worboy's rules as although it's of the recent post-1963 set with wide blue border it uses capital letters which were outlawed for all new signs. The only exceptions officially are when remaking old signs that have worn out and are replaced with modern copies. I have one here on Belmont Hill in Cheam and are probably only a few existing in the country as few councils appreciate the history.

Bush Hill Park fingerpost
The interesting thing about this sign is it's the first I've seen with the road numbers in red. Of course they can use any colour paint they want on these but still quite unusual to see. Fingerposts however are still very prevalent outside urban areas as were exempted from removal in 1963. Situated on Village Road at the junction of Church Street, just in the far corner of Edmonton, London N9.
