Northern Line connection to Highgate Depot
This is on the course of the LNER suburban branch to High Barnet and Edgware that was partly taken over by the London Underground system. The passenger carrying lines have just gone underground here, the railings just visible beyond the small building guard the cutting and tunnel mouth of the northbound track. In the foreground is the end of a sand drag on an overrun trap for a line leaving the depot yard behind the camera.

Depot Line Through Cherry Tree Wood
Taken from Cherry Tree Wood, this is part of the original Northern Heights branch of the Great Northern Railway that ran from Finsbury Park to High Barnet. Nowadays it just links Highgate depot to East Finchley station allowing Northern Line trains to enter service each morning. The bridge in the distance carries Woodside Avenue over the line. The depot is beyond the bridge.

Because Edward VIII was king for only 326 days, postboxes bearing his cypher are thin on the ground, there being only around 150 survivors in the whole of the UK. This is Postbox No. N2 16. See Image] for cypher. See Image] for detail. See Image] and Image] for context.
