This is on the course of the LNER suburban branch to High Barnet and Edgware that was partly taken over by the London Underground system. The passenger carrying lines have just gone underground here, the railings just visible beyond the small building guard the cutting and tunnel mouth of the northbound track. In the foreground is the end of a sand drag on an overrun trap for a line leaving the depot yard behind the camera.
