Northward scene at Harringay West, with an Up express, also a freight on the Ferme Park flyover
View northward, towards Wood Green and the North on the ECML. The great Ferme Park Yards are to the left on both sides of the main line. The Up express is the 06.50 Grimsby - King's Cross, headed by Thompson B1 4-6-0 No. 61409 (built 6/50 - the final one of its class, withdrawn 9/63). Behind it, an empty carriage train is passing on the Up Slow and an Up Goods is crossing the Flyover. The shot was taken from the footbridge from Harringay station, which led northwards to an ideal spot for watching the never-ending succession of trains.

Express from Cleethorpes passing Harringay West Station
View northwards from the Down Fast platform, towards Hitchin and the North; ex-Great Northern ECML. This 08.21 express from Cleethorpes, Grimsby and Boston to King's Cross will have joined the ECML at Werrington Junction, north of Peterborough. The locomotive is B1 4-6-0 No. 61114. The bridge at far left carries the flyover from the Down to the Up side of the Ferme Park marshalling yards.

NBL/MAN Class 2 Diesel at Harringay West, 1959
View eastwards from the station platform, on the lines leading to its home depot at Hornsey, this was one of the new 'transitional' Diesel locomotives newly brought into the London King's Cross area to replace steam locomotives on outer suburban and empty stock work. They were disappointing and after a year or two were sent away to the Scottish Region (Eastfield). No. D6108 was a 1,000hp Type 2 Bo-Bo (later Class 21), designed and built by the NB Loco Co., powered by M.A.N./G.E.C. motors; it started work in 4/59 and was withdrawn in 5/69.

Towards King's Cross on the ECML at Harringay, 1993
View southward on the Up Main platform, towards Finsbury Park and King's Cross. Believe it or not - the prominent bridge above is only a footbridge, with the station booking-office, a shack which replaced the station building destroyed by fire in the 1960s.
