Basing Way
The Amberden Avenue end of this housing estate. The left hand no entry sign is glowing because of the angle at which the sun is striking its reflective coating.

Wembley Sunset
Looking across the houses on Moat Crescent towards Wembley on a very cold January evening in Finchley. The frost has lingered all day as temperatures barely rose above freezing, and can be seen on the grass in the foreground. With no wind to stir the air the smog is being held close to the ground by a temperature inversion. A temperature inversion occurs when air close to the ground is chilled and becomes cooler with respect to the air above - in these circumstances the normal radiative cycle is suspended close to the ground and smoke lies rather than rising.

North Circular Sunset
Seen from East End Road. The street lights have not yet come on in the gathering gloom but motorists are lighting up as they head home at the end of the day. Wembley Stadium stands above its surroundings in the distance.

Amberden Avenue
A group of buildings in the corner between Amberden Avenue and Kingsgate Avenue. I believe they were originally built as a section house for the police. Whether that remains their function is unclear as there is no signage to indicate their current use.

Moat Crescent
Council housing on the Basing Way estate. Wembley Stadium is visible in the background. With such a nice expanse of grass, ball games are banned!

Amberden Avenue Bus Stop
View of the A406 North Circular Road as it passes this location. Amberden road has a gated sliproad down onto the A406 which is only for use by emergence vehicles. The bus stop is accessed by a ramp which is out of view behind the trees on the right.

Looking onto the square in the centre of this housing estate. Jogging in slip-on's, now that's a first!

North Circular Road from Manor Cottage
View of the North Circular (A406) from the site of the Manor Cottage roundabout. The height above the present dual carriageway gives an impression of how much steeper the climb from Henlys Corner was in the days before the road was widened. The white building on the horizon is the new Wembley Stadium.

A406 North Circular Road
Viewed from the A504 East End Road on a drear misty morning the North Circular Road once climbed to the level the photographer is standing on to meet the A504 at the former Manor Cottages roundabout. Today the A406 is set into the cutting and goes under East End Road in a short tunnel. The steps and ramp provide pedestrian access down to, and up from, the bus stop on the A406 at the bottom.
