Abandoned Lorry Park
Once the park of a local haulier, this site on Long Lane was abandoned some years ago. The brick wall on the right was added, dividing the site and allowing continued access to buildings behind the adjacent houses. The site has two disused fuel pumps and a diesel storage tank. It has recently been sold with planning permission for 7 flats. I do hope they're going to decontaminate first!

Long Lane Pasture
Located behind the housing on Long Lane and adjacent to the North Circular Road, this area was subject to a development battle but has now settled down to becoming a nature reserve. The pond was excavated during the summer of 2007 and has now filled with water. The reserve is currently only open when volunteers are working on site. The walls and housing are on Long Lane. The tall buildings in the distance are the flats on the Arts Depot / bus station at North Finchley.

Pond on Long Lane Pasture
Looking across the newly constructed pond on the nature reserve towards Rosemary Avenue. The heavy afternoon clouds are reflected in the surface of the water. A lone Great Willowherb stands in the foreground and there is Purple Loosestrife on the opposite bank.

Heavy Haulage on Long Lane
A DAF XF with low-loader parked outside Talbot Designs premises by the fire station. It has delivered a crane which I believe is being used in the replacement of the asbestos roof in this ex-council depot. See Image where the roof is visible.

Footpath Beside the North Circular Road
This footpath and the line of trees is the remnants of the North Circular as it was in the vicinity of Long Lane. The Road was originally at the same height as this path and had a traffic light controlled level junction with Long Lane just beyond the bollards that are visible in the distance. The North Circular is now significantly higher as it crosses Long Lane on bridge - The embankment on the right gives an indication of how much higher. Long Lane itself was lowered to give sufficient clearance for lorries and the fire engines from Finchley Fire Station to pass under the bridge. Just visible through the mist in the distance is the ramp up to the bus stop on the eastbound carriageway of the North Circular from Long Lane.
