Park Hall Road, East Finchley
Although the houses form a continuous terrace, there is a lot of variety and in fact the terrace is made up of a sequence of semi-detached houses adjacent to each other.

Recent, dispersing clouds and early morning sun combine to give an interesting light effect in this shot of Park Hall Road from Fortis Green.

Looking towards East Finchley station from the junction with East End Road and Fortis Green. Temporary lights are holding traffic back some way short of the junction. This was once part of the Great North Road.

The Phoenix Cinema
Originally the Rex, the cinema was saved from demolition by the Phoenix Trust which celebrated its 21st birthday in December 2006. A wide range of films are shown from arthouse to blockbusters.

Blues and Twos on the High Road
An ambulance takes to the wrong side of the road to pass a lengthy queue of traffic on its way to a shout. The traffic was particularly heavy this morning (10/06/2009) due to industrial action by the RMT which had closed some underground lines. Ironically, the Northern Line was operating a nearly normal service through East Finchley station just down the hill.

102 to Chingford
AEC Regent bus on the 102 route turns onto Fortis Green Road. It must have been a warm evening, the front windows are wound right down. Entering service in 1938, the last buses of this type were retired from passenger service by London Transport in 1979. In the background is the Bald Faced Stag public house.

Fortis Green
Looking towards the junction with the A1000, High Road, at East Finchley. The 134 bus on the right is a stranger to these parts, being on diversion due to a burst watermain on Muswell Hill. The bus in the queue of traffic in the centre is a 43, also on diversion. It was a very cold night and the roofs of the shops and the Bald Faced Stag pub, across the junction in the centre of the photo, are white with frost.
