French Market, East Finchley
Shoppers browse the stalls set up along the High Road. A mix of foods, sweets. clothing and toys were available. Cheeses and garlic grappes were good value whilst the olives were expensive but good quality. I don't know whether the sausages on the stall in this photo were good value as I didn't check the prices.

Evening Rush
On a dull March evening, a Northbound 263 bus collects homeward bound commuters on the Great North Road, East Finchley. Traffic usually queues here due to the traffic lights at the junction with the A504, Fortis Green.

Great North Road
Looking towards the Bald Faced Stag and the junction with East End Road. The road from Finchley Wood to St. Albans was placed under Pavage tax for the local citizens in 1347. This southern section of the road was called Newgate Lane in 1395 - possibly a reference to the Bishop's Gate which was located near here. The Bald Faced Stag existed before 1730 (it has also been known as 'The Jolly Blacksmith'). It was rebuilt in its current form around 1880.

The Bald Faced Stag
Sitting on the corner of the High Road and East End Road, the pub has just been refurbished and now resembles a pint of stout with a very large head. The garden is full of customers on a warm June evening.
