East Finchley
The Bald Faced Stag pub sits at the right on the junction, and East Finchley tube station is in the distance. Looking south across the major road junction in the grid square.

Park Hall Road
Recent, dispersing clouds and early morning sun combine to give an interesting light effect in this shot of Park Hall Road from Fortis Green.

102 to Chingford
AEC Regent bus on the 102 route turns onto Fortis Green Road. It must have been a warm evening, the front windows are wound right down. Entering service in 1938, the last buses of this type were retired from passenger service by London Transport in 1979. In the background is the Bald Faced Stag public house.

Fortis Green
Looking towards the junction with the A1000, High Road, at East Finchley. The 134 bus on the right is a stranger to these parts, being on diversion due to a burst watermain on Muswell Hill. The bus in the queue of traffic in the centre is a 43, also on diversion. It was a very cold night and the roofs of the shops and the Bald Faced Stag pub, across the junction in the centre of the photo, are white with frost.

High Road in The Snow
Freshly fallen snow coats the pavement beside the Fortis Green request stop. Despite the continuing fine falling snow the two lady pedestrians seem in good spirits as they make their way towards the station.

No.4 Lincoln Parade
Traditional barbershop that has seen better days. I used to get my hair cut here when I was at school, a very long time ago! Not much has changed in 40 years. I bet the barbers still ask 'anything for the weekend sir?' Planning permission was granted in January 2007 for Lincoln Parade to be redeveloped as housing, so I wonder how much longer the shops will be here.

The High Road
Early morning traffic queues on the A1000 at the junction with Fortis Green. Overnight rain has left the road surface wet. On the right is one of the continental style advertising hoardings, illuminated at this time of the day.

Fortis Green
Not a car in sight and only one other person to share the quiet of the morning - 04:54 and the sun not due to rise for another 50 minutes. Actually, it wasn't quiet - the dawn chorus was in full swing!
