The Walks
View across Leopold Road. The Walks reputedly form part of an old sheep/pig droving route from Hampstead Heath to Barnet Market, via Finchley's Hog Market. As a child I was told that my great grandmother kept sheep on the heath and used this route.

OH on Leslie Road
Telephone wires distributed from a pole to the local houses - referred to as OH by telephone engineers - the alternative being UG, or underground, distribution. The green footpath signs mark the location of The Walks, leading to Leopold Road on the left and Park Gate on the right. East Finchley library is visible past the end of the terraced houses.

Park Gate
Secluded cul-de-sac with lots of trees and modern housing. The barriers stop pedestrians using The Walks from running straight across. This road has been used on occasion for dumping stolen vehicles as the footpath provides a ready made getaway. Damage to the road surface - just visible behind the manhole cover - was caused by a stolen motorcycle that was set on fire here.

One Little Thunder Cloud
A lone cumulo-nimbus cloud drifts over Leslie Road. The top is starting to boil up in the bright sunshine and in a short time it will be capable of producing a heavy shower somewhere.
