The High Road (A1000)
Metroline TE948 drifts along between Whetstone and North Finchley with a Holloway bound 263. Passengers wait at the stop opposite for a northbound service. The zebra crossing in the photo was out of use in the recent past, so it's good to see that it has been reinstated. It's early September and the leaves on the Horse Chestnut trees are already beginning to turn brown.

Uno Kitchens
A one-time service station converted to dual use - I believe it used to be a Fina station. Servicing of cars is still carried out, but the shop has become a kitchen design centre with the area where the fuel pumps were located allocated to parking.

Terrace on the High Road
This small group of large terraced houses were built in 1904 according to the fine plaster work on the end. The side street on the left is Woodside Lane.

1071 High Road
Evidence that we are in Whetstone. An unusual housing development, breaking from the terraced and semi-detached norm of the area. Apartments are arranged around 3 sides of a courtyard with trees on the 4th and parking in the centre.

Whetstone Audi
A large modern car showroom, presumably in keeping with the company's vorsprung durch technik slogan. The High Road begins to widen here, becoming a short stretch of dual carriageway as it approaches the centre of Whetstone - quite why is a bit of a mystery.
